I don't realize why I keep updating for the latest version on this, I guess I always hope it will likely be better than the past.
I started using painter mothers and fathers of version 4. It was wonderful and I tried on the extender exclusively for my work. Then came the dark times of version 6, 7 and 8. It got a little better after Corel aquired it, however, these annoying selection problems started happen. And lets not discuss the dreaded Painter Poof the location where the program runs out of memory and quits suddenly causing in tears at 3am each morning. In version 12 they finally fixed the choice problems that plagued 9-11 at the least. But it became SLOW. I changed to Photoshop for my work a couple of years ago. Now Im on Mavericks and I thought Id benefit from the nicer pricing for upgrades but got Painter X3. Alas, it can be REALLY SLOW. Ive wasted my money again. Corel, forget about fancy the latest features. What we want is FAST and STABLE.
Poorly designed interface, crashes, omitted features
Ive been a Painter advocate and heavy user in excess of 15 years. I suppose should you be new towards the program this release seems to be a wonderful program. However, I use the program 7-8 hours every day, 5 days each week. It is THE production software I use like a professional illustrator. This latest release, while adding some attractive features, could be the worst release Corel has ever created. The softwares programmers haven't yet resolve a lot of the earlier versions crash problems, the interface redesign makes me question if anyone knows what they're doing, as well as they are simply outsourcing everything to India.
1. You can not longer accurately place a layer flush to your top and left within your image inside layer attributes appear. Do not purchase this version, lose time waiting for Painter 13 and discover if they correct their Painter 12 blunder.
I tried the trial, albeit in the limited way, and things worked fine. My experiences with all the original Fractal Painter, which then became Metacreations Painter leads me to think this is a 5-star product.

Painter X using the services of Leopard!
Painter is an awesome program that does what few other paint program are capable of doing. Ive heard back from Corels tech support via customer care and they said hello will run slower for those who have more than 4 GHz of memory. With 4 Ghz, it truely does work like a charm. Im building a MacPro 3.2- Leopard 10.5.two-four GHz ram
Excellent job by Corel, really worth the wait
Painter is one with the true cornerstone applications in almost any artists toolkit. I was genuinely concerned that Corel either wouldn't be able to get Painter to your UB application, or might not get it done very well. I received my copy of Painter X today, plus they truly did a wonderful job. Painter X absolutely flies in this little 2.0 GHZ MacBook, and upon registration they furnish quite a few free tutorial movies from Jeremy Sutton a wonderfully known name in Painter circles, the manual is spiral bound so I can lay it flat in my table, the disk includes many Painter extras, and I personally really such as the new interface.

Im using painter more than 7 years now, Im not upgrading.
Ive used Painter since version 5, and it is been my most-used non-animated graphics application even in excess of Photoshop for print and Web design. I add my complaint for the other recent reviewers complaints which the 9.5 upgrade installer quits with error 11500:2-14 if it gets on the remaining update 14. The program appears to run OK, although I have not tested out much yet. The Welcome info screen in this course indicates I continue to have version 9.1, although inside the Finder, the Info screen indicates version 9.5.324. So who knows?

I purchased this item inside academic version, as well as the delivery was delayed. That has happened for me multiple times lately. Once, I didnt find the item in any respect. Money was refunded. Anyway, after I downloaded the item, the installer just didnt work. Im with a fairly new iMac with 10.8 OSX. Tech support sent me to Corel to download the trial and hang in my serial number. I had to find out how to do this myself. Corels price was a similar, and offered the DVD ROM also. When I registered, Corel said I should get my software through them, because often they price-match.
Technically, I can sell any art I make with many, as it will be the full version. Honestly, I got this version despite the fact that Painter 12 was fine, because in the newer features. There is a perspective tool that assists you use multiple horizon lines Im terrible drawing buildings, and there is a palette to your reference photo.
As always, there could be stability issues, particularly which has a new product, and so on Macs, however it never crashed, and I beat the heck from the jawhorse, doing my homework last week.
