We have used CorelDraw because the first versions. It would be a fantastic software when it was not really boggous. We get constant crashes and corrupted files. As soon as you begin working seeriously using this sofware more images, working wit files using a network, color management, etc The software begins happily crashing and creating many corrupted files. Which means a lot of lost irrecuperable work. We taken care of the support and in some cases Corel cannot assist us make it stables. We lost many files and are also currently switching to Adobe.

I have used Corel photo software for quite a while now. I first purchased Corel Photo Album in 2008 and have used Corel products since that time.
The installation is not difficult, registration is not hard and I have never had any on the programs crash or fail on any with the computers I have owned in the past.
Paint Shop Pro X5 has lots of new features that boost the usefulness on the program. It looked great - no radical changes plus a familiar interface. Thats fortunately - and thats where it stopped. Attempting to work with X5 for the most simple tasks ended in crash after crash and error after error. Not enough memory it said. Not a real file type it said. For the record if my PC can run Photoshop w/o any difficulty at all Im sure it may run X5 - it's got plenty of memory. As to the 2nd error, PSP X2 was used to make those invalid file types X5 were not impressed with, and they also open perfectly in every other software I use, including Photoshop, GIMP, Photofiltre, while others. I just finished uninstalling this trash. I guess I should find my lesson from version 10, Corels first version after JASC out of stock to them. Jasc version 9 was the ultimate and best version worth owning. Corel turned a remarkable image processing and paint program right into a piece of photo processing crap. After uninstalling version 10, I went for just a few years on version 9, although there is one minor issue on Windows 7 which was easily worked around. Finally, I decided to go with all the current version inside the hopes who's would be 100% that will work with W7. Big mistake. This version can be quite unstable. My PC is exceedingly reliable and not crashes or gets infected, but it is the only software that produces it to secure. Thats it to me. I will never buy another Corel product.

I installed Corels second service pack that recently became available. Program crashing may be greatly reduced so this program is now usable nevertheless it is still slow. Sometimes it takes 45 sec in order to load this program, maybe only a few seconds. It is slower in the majority of all aspects versus the older X4 was. March 25, 2013 Update - This program features a memory leak problem if you utilize Local Tone Mapping.
Today PaintShop complained it didnt have adequate memory after editing about 12 photos. I started Windows Task Manager and saw that PaintShop Pro was using 2500 MB of RAM even without photos loaded! I restarted the program along with the memory usage went along to down to 128 MB. Memory usage increased as I edited each photo. Apparently Local Tone Mapping takes memory and do not gives it back. It takes more memory any time you cycle the Preview on Image check box on / off. I was losing 40-50 MB each and each and every time I turned that preview off and on and that memory never made a comeback! Again, after editing another 14 photos, the memory usage was approximately 2.5 GB again.
I restarted this course again and edited more photos and noted the memory usage prior to starting to edit each photo. Only one photo was open at a time from the program. Here is the memory being employed by PaintShop when starting each edit:
The memory usage increased for each photo edited. This varied coming from a few MB to in excess of 500 MB based on what I did through the edit.
