I have children 14, 11, and 9, and I was ready for software that will appeal to their creative side. I am a fairly sophisticated software user, and utilized to do some programming myself, but had never really ventured into these sort of painting/art programs.

The difference is striking on performance. While this device would probably do great on one in the newer MacBooks with 144MB of shared memory, it stuttered and was slow in this little older MacBook. It flies on my own and this is clearly due to your graphics memory differences but not because of your moderate processor jump.
Id recommend anyone trying this new out in the box by sitting through the tutorials one or more times to familiarize themselves together with the interface - if you ask me, it had not been initially intuitive.

Ive used previous versions of Painter, previously. When my kiddo became serious about doing more advanced drawings than KidPix would support I immediately regarded Painter Essentials.
Amazon delivered the package quickly, and Ive spent the last two mornings working together with Corel support trying to obtain the program to own. Ive also spent yesteryear two mornings, while you're on hold, reading many comments online the painter factory, etc about people recently having troubles with Painter 11 and Painter Essentials 4 running - and stopping running if it ended up being previously running.
The program displays a its splash screen and after that disappears.
From comparing the un-installation instructions, which Ive done much or more, for the files installed for the computers disk drive I can see that some with the files which might be supposed being there are not. Support doesn't have any explanation because of this discrepancy, but states it shouldnt matter.

I am not a designer, not computer savvy and used the product with a mouse. After you install this program, go for the Corel site and download the update. Works great. I feel sorry for anyone who returned the software program. Works better yet with Win 10.

Program was not appropriate for Windows 7, only Windows XP.
Essentials works if you might have XP. Windows 8.1 wouldn't make it compatible, I tried all compatible setting available from 8.1 for 3 hours. What a waste of the good program.
