I currently have PowerDVD 12 running in this little Media Center PC, which works perfectly. Its also really the only Blu-Ray player within my living room, therefore it gets used quite a lot. It also doesn't have any problem playing any 2D or 3D Blu-Ray moving Ive thrown in internet marketing. However, I had a new need with my primary Windows 8 PC to get a blu-ray player. And that is naturally, playing just as much content as I will get at 4K2K Resolution 3840x2160 30 Hz through the Seiki Digital SE50UY04 50-Inch 4K UHD 120Hz LED HDTV Im currently using being a monitor. After comparing the two programs continual, Im really developing a hard time determining what, contrary has really changed. The bottom line is that PowerDVD 13 is a real solid Blu-Ray player. It still does exactly what was originally created for and has made relatively positive improvements from previous versions. I just wish theyd limit some in the bloat and give a slim-line version that has each one of key audio/video features, for example 3D and 7.1 audio. Then abandon stuff you might not want, for example the Library and TrueTheater enhancements.

I own Powerdvd 11 ultra but I simply want to warn potential purchasers the things they could be letting themselves set for. Whether you would like to pick this up from Amazon or from Cyberlink themselves, remember that from version 12 onwards Cyberlink has included the horror and that is called Cinavia. This is defined as protection against pirated movies and sits in the audio track. Many movies with the cinema now contain this and anyone smuggling a camcorder into there local cinema will believe it is can effect them. After approx 20 mins the audio will mute along with a message can look telling them what has happened. When in combination with PowerDVD 12 or 13, this certainly does effect original purchased movies likewise, but only if they're using programs including Anydvd-HD which can be used to generate your pc region free at the same time as deal with the latest movie protection etc. It is Anydvd-HD and that is falsely alerting the safety, not the movie. Ive used plenty of video editors through the years, notably Premiere and Pinnacle. Premiere was too big for I want to complete and Pinnacle was dang buggy it created many problems in this little PC. This is really a very nice slick software application. There are many intuitive elements that produces this some in the best software I have ever used.
Im running an Octo-core, 16 g ram and it also runs great. Then the CYberlink PowerDirector CRASHES. completely has major crashes. So does out other PC. So did our Surface Pro 3 I7. In fact every PC we completed it on crashed when you filled this software with different videos and pictures.
Compound the belief that Amazon will raise the price upon you like a lot of items at take a look at. Twice I put in around my Cart at 49 just to have it jump to 79 during my cart within exactly the same minute.

My most disappointing aspect to Cyberlink is not too much anything concerning their product, as it really is with their customer satisfaction. You are limited within the ways you can contact them. There is no direct, timely contact, there may be only indirect, time intensive contact by email or over a blog/forum. While they did interact to my concerns and questions via e-mail, they always requested visual proof via requested screen snapshots from the error messages. No matter what I told them inside my lengthy and comprehensive discriptions of any problem I was having, I was required to always include these screen snapshots before I could get help. And heaven forbid if I, after trying the thing that was recommended by them, were required to send an answer through another email. Ive used Adobe Premiere, After FX and my personal favorite, the overpriced Sony Vegas, but with a small fraction with the price, Im truly astonished at how well this may the job for almost all everything I want to accomplish.
There are shortcomings in usability, but each one of them do, esp the free ones. This is really worth the headaches.
My pet peeves in usability are the inability to merely turn down your entire volume of any certain track using a single slider you have to have into micromanging keyframes. I find having to always edit the audio externally to usually lower the variety of music tracks like 70% as being the internal controls are so coarse during that degree of volume.

I bought this because there is usually a unresolved downside to MS DVD Maker. I was hoping this will be an upgrade in the free DVD Maker that provide Windows 7. PowerDirector is powerful, however they only include one or two of menu templates, and you also cannot customize them as you're able in DVD Maker. They expect one to download free templates that users make, but the vast majority of them are certainly not very good, if you don't like anime characters. You can purchase packs from Cyberlink, but I dont wish to spend the added cost for something I would think should already be included while using purchased software.
I think I am returning this because it really doesnt suit my needs for just a simple, complete DVD making software.
EDIT1: I just tried burning a DVD and after 1.5 hours of converting, I got some form of burn error. Going to try once more and then I stop trying.
EDIT2: I was capable to create a disc image, then burned my DVDs from that. I am undecided on keeping this or returning it. I dont need most in the features about this application.

Do not buy the program unless you need to spend a large amount of time tuning your laptop. I ran the trial version also it worked fine, but after downloading the entire version it crashes on opening. I did the whole gamut of fixes they suggest and zilch works and receiving to tech support is a nightmare to become run in circles. Even this software updates which are suppose to mend the bugs wouldn't normally install.
I wanted a course to edit video, I need to become productive and that won't include spening too much time to update and tweak simply to still have nothing working. I dont think it really is unreasonable in this particular day in age to expect a course to serve as advertised without earning a diploma in computer science as you go along.
