I chosen to ignore the one-star reviews and get this game anyway, being a long-time Settlers fanboy. Man, do I regret that decision.
I surely could download the overall game, and the very first two missions went with no hitch, subsequently, I havent been able to experience at all, because of the broken UPlay how ironic DRM scheme. Theres nothing wrong with my connection, plus the little UbiSoft box says its connected, but the overall game itself just interrupts the mission immediately after it starts, saying Verifying Network Connection, or something like that to that effect.

Husband and I are trying to try out it multi player and DRM wont allow us to. If you purchase a replica, want to solo or spend playtime with someone that's not on same IP. Fun game but
forced online connection and forced patching is annoying. Uplay, wake! EA dropped them back Spore, get with all the program. We all aren't thieves.

My wife and I can be extremely enjoying this well produced game. If you like city building games like Pharaoh, Caesar III, Children on the Nile, and of course each of the older Settlers games like Settlers III you are going to really like the game. Blue Byte has upped their game no pun intended together with the latest edition that takes the graphics and gameplay to new heights. Our PCs are about 4-5 years but can play in the highest detail level, but perform have decent video cards from that period ATI 4870 512 meg. This Deluxe Gold Edition will be the real thing and possesses the extra content. The only downside to the game is which is requires a permanent connection on the Internet. For most people that in some way wont be a challenge, but with a that want to try out on a laptop away through the house, etc., this will likely completely stop them from playing. It has a Battlenet type system with in-game mail, chat, mentoring, etc. Ubisoft has pledged to clear out this Always Connected issue in the future patch they did eliminate it in two other popular games but have not gotten around to performing it in Settlers 7 at the time of yet.

I have played and enjoyed many hours in the settlers, 4, 5, and 6. However settlers 7 can be a waste. You cant get involved in it from a couple of machine using a ISP, If I want to be up and head over to another room from the house and play in private, YOU CANT.
I wont waste 40 about this Joke. You have to get connected for the internet, If their server falls, or they certainly a maintenance for the server, or perhaps you go down, it wont play.
When they choose to stop running the server, thats it, you cant load it and possess hours of fun. These guys and EA stronghold series are likely to lose folks as i am, I would be a stockholder, got so mad I sold it. I wont purchase a piece of crap such as this at any price.

This would be a good game from the start but once you start out to understand how to try out it just seems a little slow. I would recommend the overall game if you want an activity that plays somewhat slow for my taste.
