At the same time, Ashley is excellent at writing female characters with agency. Her women are fully realized characters who've lives and relationships outside their romantic concerns. Ashleys females have friends, jobs, interests outside the men inside their lives. I wish more romance writers would create similarly real women. Tack and Lanies love story in Fire Inside isnt simple or easy, nonetheless it felt authentic, as well as its that quality that produce Ashleys books so compelling.

I always enjoy Milans seamless integration of Victorian social issues into her romances womens medical problems in A Kiss at Midwinter, middle class poverty in This Wicked Gift, etc. and The Heiress Effect isn't a different. Jane faces sexism and misogyny at virtually turn:

My nephew is in fact the cutest thing ever and also since he came to be in February, hes been a bright spot within our lives. My thoughts: Holy emotional journey, Batman. The Story Guy only agreed to be 120 pages? Because it sure felt just like a full-length novel. There was an abundance of buzz making the rounds Romancelandia about Mary Ann Rivers debut book, and I dove in expecting a sweet, easy read. Instead, I found myself completely immersed inside a super steamy read which in fact had me choked with emotion for just a significant amount of pages.
The relationship between Carrie and Brian begins as, well, really not a relationship. Just kissing, no touching below the neck. It begins sweetly, and Brians bashful demeanor charmed me equally as quickly since it did Carrie the guy can blush together with the best ones. As soon as Carrie efforts to turn the bond beyond a weekly snog session, though, Brian shuts her down hardly surprising, since the deal was for kissing only. The novella then gets a contest of wills where Carrie efforts to break down Brians barriers expecting creating something more.
Im generally not really a fan of stories told in present tense, nonetheless it works in The Story Guy. It heightens the intimacy between Carrie and Brian and yes it also keeps the tale suspenseful. More than once, I found myself wondering how possibly Rivers could end this book in a very satisfying manner.
The Story Guy isnt flawless. I was frustrated because of the amount of time it loved find out Brians story, and I felt the ending would be a bit slick. The book also raises some provocative conditions Ill skip in charge of fear of spoiling some major plot points.
