The only thing I could offer should you still have a concern is I have left the equipment like you said around the Downloading part throughout the day once and also some magic it finally managed to move on and did the install. I have this issue at the same time - my dad has a Windows XP PC, having a slow web connection modem!. He isnt about to upgrade, but wants IE8 on the website. But I cant find an installer anywhere - the 16MB installer, which desires to download others. If I google, I can find installers on non-Microsoft sites, but Im not sure what bonus malware they have.
Why doesnt Microsoft just give you the full installer somewhere? Im sure it may be available inside past? Doesnt anyone own it?
