Yes XP is just not perfect but hardly slow than the bloated and rushed VISTA. If you execute a clean install with XP and also your computer continues to be slow it's your hardware otherwise you have the wrong drivers installed. This isn't XPs fault.
The next thing is to buy a fresh computer with 7. You can get a different one for several hundred of course, if you need a great computer for tech you'll be able to build your own for a couple of hundred at the same time. Im sure you can find techs where you live that can help you. Either way the rule of thumb is XP for old computers, and 7 for brand new ones. And if you will cant stand XP a celebrity then plunge to linux. Its free and a lot more secure.
Very, really good Windows program
Easy to face problems, simple to navigate. Holds more than enough. Tells when there is often a problem and fixes it easily. Fast 85% almost daily. Good household computer, tells whenever a program may harm your laptop, and asks if you want to run it.
Lags sometimes ANNOYING, could be slow 35% times. When multiple tabs windows are running as well, every one of the programs immediately become unresponsive. When programs become unresponsive, inconvenience to shut this software down.
Overall, I have had this computer ALL MY LIFE, plus it still works like new. This computer is definitely an old but trusted friend, if you want to pick out a different program, select this. You wont regret it!:
if your Microsoft ME os wont work anymore, invest in a upgrade package off ebay that converts your o/s to XP home. Yes, it functions OK and means that you can keep your current computer and a years. as Microsoft will support XP thru 2013
no choice but to convert to xp from ME. XP home works all right and all my old software works well on it. No support for ME which was very successful for me for decade. Time to progress to XP to help keep software current.
XP probably will go down as Microsofts best main system ever. After service pack 2 and 3, they finally first got it working! Why reinvent the wheel? Im happy and place for at least two or three years due to a 50 upgrade pkg purchased off ebay

Even worse, I know those who do this and believe its cool. Argh
