Timo - if each iteration in the loop is basically fast, then your overhead of parforprogress could be a lot. If each iteration is slow, that s not. If it s slowing you down a good deal, either use another solution or restructure your loop so each iteration does more work.
Nice work, but I mentioned that in case I am with your script, the parfor loop is really as slow as being the common for loop.

I also found display issues from the linux terminal, which Ashin and Alessandro describe. However, I found an alternative pretty quickly though I m not an expert user of MATLAB by any means.
I changed only 3 lines, changing all disp calls to fprintf.
The char8 trick works best for fprintf at the same time and is actually better for linux terminals.
Erik: Depends how slow each iteration of the loop is. If each iteration takes some time to run, this won t impact execution time. If each iteration is very fast, it could actually. You ll must benchmark for further specifics, I ve only tried on the extender on slow problems. If necessary, a fast fix to speed this up should be to change the path of to be over a ramdisk.
