I am fond of avaiation, and for that reason FS has developed into a part of my computing experience. I am a non-public pilot and granted no simulator with a million dollars will definitely simulate flying, Microsoft no less than gives good practice on various skills on REAL WORLD airports. I truly enjoy what Microsoft did with their Flight Simulator series.

I have already been using flight simulators since MS Flight Simulator 4.0, and have absolutely more diverse experience than only Microsofts offering to call upon. While any simulator can be created quite realistic using the latest hardware and enough money, you have to note that Microsofts offering is not any different - you simply can't, as the saying goes, generate a silk purse away from a pigs ear. This means that if you are running an underpowered system, you might not be in a position to run the simulation optimally.
The software itself is practically infinitely extendable, with software and hardware add-ons supported. A quick look around within the flightsim community will support my assertion that the software program is CHEAP as compared to what can be done to enhance it. Read more
