I just updated from win 7 64 bit to win 8 pro 64 bit FSX worked fine on win 7 the good news is using windows 8 pro I cannot install FSX, I get the 1628 error and should not install the application I have done everything listed with this error but no joy, I have tested my install disc in my wifes win 7 32 bit computer also it loads just great, therefore, the disc is a useful one. Are we getting an answer to this particular problem with win 8 from Microsoft, I may require back to win7 I dont want to but I want my flight sim. occur Microsoft attempt to fix this

I experimented with install FSX through the box, on the new Dell wiht MS Windows 8 it installed fine, however no shortcut, and yes it was not listed what so ever within the listing of programs. It was listed inside the install/uninstall program options.

Same applies to I can not get FSX to work on my own desktop PC. It is driving me nuts and I am getting fed up with searching for no answer. I called Microsoft India coupled with the guy remote login to my PC and watched him repeat precisely the same trouble shooting steps for 3.5 hours. After the 3rd time I decided to discover how many times this person would try exactly the same thing. After 3.5 hours I cut the text and ended the decision. Right select Windows will explain that it cannot develop a shortcut there and can ask if you need it within the desktop instead. Click on yes and you also now have a shortcut. It will probably appear on your old desktop rather than the Windows 8 Metro interface. I noticed that a lot but had ignored it.
