Oct 17, 2014 was a significant date for most SEOs, webmasters, and businesses. Penguin, which weve been waiting over a total year for, began to roll out. Googles Gary Illyes explained at SMX East that Penguin 3.0 was imminent, so it would be a delight for webmasters, it would be a whole new algorithm, plus more. So we all eagerly awaited the arrival of Penguin 3.0.
There remained many doubts about the next version of Penguin. For example, why has it taken that long to update Penguin, would there be collateral damage, wouldn't it actually have new signals, would it unveil more frequently, and much more? So when we had the first indications of Penguin rolling out, a lot of us dug in and did start to analyze both recoveries and fresh hits. I had just gotten back from SES Denver, where I was presenting about Panda and Penguin, and so the timing was interesting to put it mildly.:
Since the algorithm is rolling out slowly, I needed time and data to investigate the initial update, then subsequent tremors. And I m glad I waited ten days to write down a post, since we have seen several interesting updates already. Now which are ten days in the rollout, and lots of tremors have occurred, I believe I have enough data to publish my first post about Penguin 3.0. And its probably the 1st of several as Penguin continues to reveal globally.

Some sites seeing early recovery saw more impact in the subsequent tremors, while other sites saw their first impact from Penguin during those later tremors.

You re right, I have never seen a Panda update considering that the 10/24 update. Google have taken it offline over the holidays and that is common. I fully expect one soon, though. Last year they rolled one from 1/10/14. I think it s closer than away at this point.
