my background: Im a specialist game developer for Blizzard and I make my entire living with such programs.
Until the production of painter 12 I thought that Corel was polishing up a software program that I purchased since version 6! Then 12 became available, I think Corel is attempting to distinguish their look from Adobes programs and created it seem like crap. The interface has become harder to read plus some real basics got harder to use and even more intimidating for starters. Look up painter 11 here on amazon, its probably only for just a limited time, but you'll be able to get it approximately 70 bux! WOW! that is really a deal and it will be the right version to acquire.
OK, now for all whos been using the program for any while and is particularly wondering what exactly is new in version 12. Let me begin with saying that all of the UI elements - your tool menus, your palettes and everything got a pass having a fatter inkier looking line which makes reading the particular icons more difficult as well as the entire program looks more juvenile, substantially fact it is usually a beautiful bit of work. Ive been using Painter since it turned out sold within a paint can. This program does what others only attempt. I frequently use Photoshop, and also other graphics programs, but painter stands alone. My only beef would be the occasional crash, I cant remember ever creating a crash in Photoshop, but painter does maybe when a I couldnt see passing it on 5 stars together with the crashing. But still this system does some pretty cool stuff.
I want to mention the brand new watercolor brushes. I use to complete water color with brush and paint. Painter 12 has revamped their watercolor brushes, on previous releases I havent bothered with him or her because they never seemed to figure realistically. However in Painter 12, Its looking very realistic. The light Fringe Real Watercolor Brush lays down color great. It features a drying effect that pushes pigment for the edges and in addition into the deep spots within the texture with the paper. Very cool! You should wait a minute to allow the strokes to dry, but within the old days I worked using a hair dryer, together to wait one or two minuets to dry areas, so waiting 10-seconds isnt really that big of deal it could be nice if it turned out instantaneous though.
Another element is cloning now puts the origin picture into your project picture file, so if you enjoy to work with a piece on multiple sessions, you wont should go hunt down the cause file again.
All in all of the, a terrific program. some real nice refinements for this release. But please Corel stabilize the program. The price is really a premium, this software should be able to stand without stumbling all of the time.
