Although Smittychat gave you the correct link for downloading a Windows XP sp3 ISO file, you have to know that theres hardly any reason to accomplish this. All you would like is the sp3 executable file:?id24 and that is only a just half the size from the ISO file, if you afflict have a less-than-superfast Internet connection.
If youre unsure from the steps you'll need to take before installing service pack 3, just ask.

I guess that is certainly not the best file. But appreciate providing the link.

I cannot use that file because I call for a disk. Reason is everytime I turn about the Windows XP Professional computer, it brings me to your half finished installation page of Windows XP Professional SP3 and asks for that disk to carry on its installation.

I need Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 file.
I have no idea how to explain it because I cannot access laptop computer as it doesn't have any Windows software running on. Smittychat provided a Windows XP SP3 file but it truly is not the proper file Computer responded.
It happens this way. I power up your computer. It allows me to look onto the boot menu F2 or F12. Besides that, it continues loading normally. Then upon booting within the hard drive, it brings me towards the setup menu to continue installing of Windows XP Professional. If I cancel installation, it is going to restart laptop and perform same thing again. If I click continue installation, it can ask me to insert a Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 CD And give the continue button when it can be inserted and the cancel button to restart the pc.
I have no idea of any way around it besides inserting the disk I do not have. That is why I come for help on

I thought I had resolved video few weeks ago, but obviously
Automatic updates keep advising me that SP3 is accessible. It downloads and installs perfectly, but on restarting the pc, the next message appears;
We apologise for that inconvenience, but Windows didn't start successfully. A recent hardware or software change will often have caused this.
If your laptop stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically shut as a result of protect your files and folders, choose Last Known Good Configuration to revert on the most recent setting that works well.
If a previous startup attempt was interrupted caused by a power failure considering that the power or reset button was pressed, or in the event you arent sure what caused the condition, choose Start Windows Normally.
This last option is automatically highlighted in case left alone, counts down and restarts endlessly, coming back to your above message everytime.
Last Known Good Configuration does a similar. Did not try Safe Mode with Networking or Command Prompt as I don't know where that will take me.
I just go into Safe Mode and restart from a young Set Point. I have tried Mr Fixit and the other suggested links, but cannot resolve this concern.
The computer can be a 2nd hand Compaqu Presario and I have deleted all games that this previous owner had loaded, but perhaps you'll find settings there to stay that are causing this challenge, though I have restarted it having its original factory settings, redownloaded SP2 and Microsoft office etc.

The issue SP3 wont install?
If so, I apologize for missing something I normally question.
I had thought for reasons uknown you were trying make use of Automatic Updates or Windows Update using SP2.
However, within the event your Compaq HP PC comes with a AMD processor, you need to check out these links:
Microsoft has goofed and contains not fixed their goof.:-
The Catch-22 is the fact that in order for Automatic Updates to figure, SP3 must ALREADY be installed! LOL
What SP level are you currently currently at? And WHY? Have you been running with the uber-risky pre-SP3 level for an extended time now? Or have you ever JUST performed a Clean Install?
Do you have already an antivirus program or suite installed? If so, which? If not, do you ever? If so, could it have been McAfee or Norton?
Is all of your data safely supported? Do you gain access to an external harddrive?
Do you've got a genuine MATCHING XP installation CD? If so, what SP level? Is it Home, Pro, or MCE?
Once you provide you with the necessary details it could or will not be necessary to carry out a Clean Install, I can offer you detailed instructions to set up SP3 and the post-SP3 high-priority security patches.
In solution Daavee s post on September 11, 2012
Am running at SP2 level since early August when I obtained it.
I failed to receive a matching installation CD when I bought, but is running XP Home Edition
As it would not restart with SP3 following the first efforts to put in it, I hit F10 to revive it to factory settings, then installed SP2 from CD. I then uninstalled Norton antivirus it came pre-installed and replaced it with McAfee.
I do employ a 1TB external harddrive connected. I used this initially to transfer documents from my old computer, that was running XP Pro I do use a CD to the, should I change? How?
As Automatic Updates didn't work, I tried an install from Microsofts Download Site direct, after turning off Automatic Updates and temporarily closing the McAfee firewall. No joy, same response as previous.
In respond to VicBailey s post on September 11, 2012
Norton and McAfee are problematic programs. McAfee has become known to hinder the installing of service packs.
If you have an interest, I can give you instructions to begin with from scratch. This would include these:
3. Run the Norton Removal Tool since remnants will interfere with installing service packs, etc.
4. Install standalone SP3.
6. Install Microsoft Security Essentials, which can be both free AND more advanced than McAfee.
If you happen to be game, tell me, and I can provide you with very detailed and finish instructions.
1. What is the make, model, and model number within your PC?
2. When you used F10, do you select the destructive recovery option or perhaps the non-destructive recovery option?
3. I see pointless to change your operating-system. Your PC features a license to operate XP Home. There is not a huge difference between that will XP Pro, so I wouldnt put it back.
In respond to Daavee s post on September 11, 2012
In answer in your questions Daavee, the computer is really a Compaq Presario SR1500AN. When I used F10 I would used non-destructive recovery, but cannot guarantee that as I just hit it.
Norton may be uninstalled and I previously run the Norton Removal Tool, restarted and got an original message again
I think IE8 has already been installed, McAfee is provided free by my Telco/Service provider so dont view a need to change that, otherwise am happy to try.
In answer VicBailey s post on September 12, 2012
Well, you'll need to learn! Let me know which version you might be running.
I still think you'd be best served by conducting a destructive recovery. I know thats a drag because you would have to reinstall all of your programs. Also, it could be problematic to setup SP3 if IE isn't at its original IE6 level.
McAfee, whether or not free, is just not good to have with your system for your following reasons:
1. It can and does use excessive RAM and CPU cycles, causing serious degradation in performance.
2. It can be difficult upgrading to SP3 while it truly is running.
MSE can be a superior program.
In the big event, if you choose to do not desire to start completely from scratch with a destructive recovery, the subsequent will probably work no guarantees, though; my strategy is foolproof only if your system is clean!:
1. Download the STANDALONE installation declare SP3
You may TOTALLY neglect the intended for IT Professionals message!
2. Physically disconnect from your Internet. Also disconnect all unnecessary peripherals!
3. Temporarily disable Automatic Updates. To do this:
Select Turn off Automatic Updates and then click OK.
4. Configure a Clean Boot! The reason? Programs like McAfee are seen to interfere with system pack installations. Configuring a Clean Boot will likely - - no guarantees, though - - disable the problematic components on the program.
The General Tab needs to be showing. Click the circle alongside Diagnostic Startup.
Click OK. Reboot when prompted.
5. Now that McAfee will hopefully not interfere, double-click the SP3 installation file you possessed already downloaded to setup SP3. Reboot TWICE.
6. Unless you're running getting some sort of McAfee security suite which consists of own firewall, make certain that the Windows firewall is enabled it needs to already be:
The General Tab must be showing. Click the circle close to Normal Startup.
Click OK. Reboot when prompted.
8. Physically re-connect for the Internet.
9. Visit Windows Update to download and install only critical security updates. Reboot whenever prompted.
10. Re-enable Automatic Updates.
I still think you'll be better served by backing increase data and carrying it out the proper way, nevertheless its your call.
If you need to do want the directions to the proper more thorough method, holler back.
The above assumes you might have IE8 already installed not one of the best way to upgrade to SP3!. In the event you might be at IE6, I will furnish you the link for the IE8 standalone program here. You would do the installation before Step 6.
In respond to Daavee s post on September 12, 2012
Can confirm I have IE 8 installed.
I would love the directions to the proper method to ensure that I can consider my plan of attack if your above fails.

I would love the directions to the proper method making sure that I can consider my plan of attack when the above fails.
Sure, Vic. If you scroll up, you will observe I have posted modified instructions on your situation. It just isn't my favorite option as you are already have IE8 installed AND you could have been running on the risky pre-SP3 level to get a month and also a half.
Download mobile phone files for SP3, IE8, and Microsoft Security Essentials, which can be an effective antivirus/antimalware program. I prefer to help keep these along with other useful files with a USB flash drive, but that part is optional. Here are the links for many three installation files:
You may TOTALLY overlook the intended for IT Professionals message!
In your case, if you don't already have it, download the Norton Removal Tool installation file, too, to maintain it with your handy USB flash drive:
1. Physically disconnect on the Internet. Also disconnect all unnecessary peripherals!
2. Use your Compaqs Recovery function to return it to its original condition correct me if I am wrong but it will likely be at SP2 level and definately will contain a trial for Norton. That is, F10 and judge DESTRUCTIVE Recovery.
3. Using Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel, uninstall Norton. Reboot.
4. Run the Norton Removal Tool
5. Temporarily disable Automatic Updates. To do this:
Select Turn off Automatic Updates and then click OK.
6. Install SP3. Reboot TWICE.
7. Upgrade to IE8. Reboot TWICE. Note: It is important to leave IE in the IE6 level before upgrading to SP3. After that you are at SP3, then you might upgrade IE6 to IE8.
Very often what happens is someone has their antivirus program running while trying to set up SP3, which frequently results in chaos! That is why it ought to be done AFTER SP3 and IE are installed.
9. Make sure Windows firewall is enabled it will already be:
Now it is possible to physically reconnect for the Internet. Update Antivirus program.
10. Visit Windows Update to download and install only critical security updates. Reboot whenever prompted.
11. Re-enable Automatic Updates.

I followed your Clean Boot intructions on 12 Sept, but failed again, same error message, only this time around clean boot had erased the resore points, so were forced to go to your Destructive Recovery
I followed your instructions on 17 Sept. Got so far as step 6, same message as originally advised. I allow it to try restarting itself automatically but stopped it after thirty minutes. Went into Safe Mode and tried updates in the event SP2 needed updates or hotfixes first. No joy there so tried System Restore point that I created after step # 5. It got midway through restore and froze, could hardly go forward, back or let down, over-time booted by unplugging.
Next day on restart, warning camer up that System Restore failed to complete, nevertheless it opened up normally. I went into Control Panel/System folder to view where I was at and yes it indicated that SP3 was there, so sustained from step 7.
MSE installed, but will never update to current signatures. Have downloaded and run several product Uninstall programs in the event that there were vestiges of other anti-virus lurking. have finally got the updates but it is not going to turn on actual time scanning.
Have gone into Microsoft Community using this type of problem since its another issue i do believe so we can close off for this one.
Thanks heaps to your help.

For what its worth, you will never be capable of install Windows updates in safe mode without making changes towards the registry first since Microsoft Installer doesnt load in safe mode.

Windows XP sucks, SLIMDRIVERS a very good remedy,
slimdrivers filled in the many missing blanksand quickly, to complete what was becoming futile if you ask me, AND IT worked!iwas killing my compyter in order to find XPS drivers!SUDDENLY SOUND!also no with regisration and gimmicks, i dont mind being inspired to pay but please dont lie offer solution after which rub my face within it. I resent chilling and MBS downloading and hoping and then hit a brick wall, and waste additional time to remove each of the hoobajala, which slimdrivers cleaner also constitutes a no brainer.
some difficulty targeting slimdriver its self you imagine you clicked onto it and end up getting something that wont vanish entirely.

Dont employ this s. Upgrade to Windows Vista SP2, Windows 7, or maybe make a downgrade to Windows 2000!
Reply by Mert98 on September 26, 2012
who would downgrade to Windows 2000??? Windows 2000 is usually old crap and it is insecure.
DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS PIECE OF !!! UPGRADE TO VISTA SP1 OR 7 NOW!!!!
Slow and unresponsive, terrible interface, deficiency of custmizations, and bsods
It amazes me that individuals actually like microsoft windows xp kinda like how people actually like macs.I would rather use windows vista than xp so we all no vista was obviously a disaster. Go with windows 7. It cost much more still less expensive a mac however and doesnt freeze on you and it's alot faster than winbloze xp if you don't run it on crappy hardware
