Depth of field isn't as good as RF Real Flight, Does not offer flight instructor mode, Does not offer take-off assist trainer or landing assist trainer.
Great training aid to the money. Will help greatly in polishing hand-eye coordination skills before heading out towards the field to fly your real R/C aircrafts. Does not hurt your wallet in price such as the Real flight that cost 170-200 plus for any R/C simulator!

I am an overall aviation pilot, flying single engine fixed wing Cessna type aircraft 4 seater. Flight Simulator X gives the sensation of actually piloting an aircraft. The plane responds to your controls much such as the real thing.
Like other reviewers, I must agree that you will need to have a great computer. I employ a dual processor Pentium D 940 running 3.2 Ghz, 4 gb RAM, 512 mb NVIDIA graphic card. On my system, with set to their maximum graphics and scenery, it runs adequately, with only an infrequent slight bump in frame-rates. I am somewhat disappointed while using scenery, that's good in primary cities, yet still basic within the country-side. The terrain is great everywhere, though the structures lack detail in besides the cities. The detail on airport runways and taxiways is terrific! Aircraft list is extensive. I recommend it.

I got my copy with this edition a couple weeks ago. The last copy of FS I owned was the 2000 version so I involved ready for the upgrade! I dropped the primary DVD in and installed it; it took a fantastic half an hour to have through seventy one DVDs. Then I fired it down. I was immediately prompted for the purpose kind of user was I - novice, experienced FS user or perhaps actual Pilot. I picked novice as Id not played a sport like this one in no less than four many needed every one of the help I could get. It then talked me though some basics and permit me to control a jet already from the air at some time and that was cool - super easy intro; I was going through the plane from behind so no confusing instruments or what-have-you. Felt as an accomplishment!
After this it suggested I go throughout the tutorials, and explained where to find them, although I was itching to just lose from a little airport near my home inside a Cessna or something that is and just get flying, maybe seek out my house - I resisted the impulse and dutifully found the primary mission.
It was in a very microlite, that is nice and very easy to see from, which had been already flying within the air if the mission started. I just were forced to navigate it though some huge green squares hanging improbably in mid-air, which I almost managed following second go. I then wandered about, and located it cool to see a little boat whizzing along a coast I seemed to become over; I worked out the best way to get down near it and was racing along just above it! Well, briefly - I got too low and fell inside the drink:-p
I only employ a keyboard and mouse and discovered it devilishly hard to control the thing while using keyboard; it became a little easier with all the mouse. Read more

Flight Simulator X will be the culmination of decades of programming and product evolution. As someone who used FS briefly back inside the 1980s over a Commodore 64, it turned out always something I wanted to find out but never had some time required. So after following developments on both Microsoft and FS community websites, I decided to acquire a Dell XPS M1710, FS X, and Saitek X52 stick and Pro Rudder controls. While I are already generally very pleased with my decision, I am a bit dismayed that my system isnt powerful enough to utilize the complete capabilities of FS X.
The current incarnation of FS is rather an accomplishment. However with such advanced features and realism comes the commitment of resources, including cutting-edge computing hardware, time and money. While FS X has added missions with specified tasks, this is NOT a sport. More importantly, the programmers at Microsoft were somewhat forward thinking inside their hardware demands.
Much on the griping heard on the FS community centers across the incredible computing horsepower needed to make the sport function. Many on the complaints are valid. However, computing power is continuously increasing. Moreover, the speed of boost in graphics performance is in fact exceeding Moores law. Yet, do expect to generate a significant investment in your hardware beyond a high-end business PC. Think innovative hardware in Q1 2007.
When from the task manager, I routinely begin to see the memory usage exceed 500MB for FS alone. To make FS function properly, you need to have at least a 256mb video card, 2 GB of RAM, plus a 2 GHz Core DUO processor. Even with this type of system, you will have the desire to upgrade.
