Its the most effective package no person knows about. Ive been using it for object and house scale projects for decade and if you realize its secrets, its awesome. I was capable of export designs straight to DWG for starters boss that read perfectly into Autocad quickly and easily, layers and many types of. For convenience, become familiar with the keyboard commands and write them on a post-it and hang up it on your own monitor. It use in the future with an awsomely thick manual with tutorials and also a reference section, but sadly presently has what amounts with a pamphlet plus you've got to rely around the help file. Its weakness is at rendering, when your expecting photo-realism, you will be out of luck. If you plan on exporting to a different modeler for rendering, no issue.
Other points that I can visualize: plenty of import/export formats, including autocad; cool paper space mode for creating formatted outputs for printing your drawings in a very specified way; very customizable when it comes to hot keys; has every one of the standard operations including spinwith offsets for stuff like screw threads and extrude, boolean ops, realtime pan and rotate from the 3D window. It does use a selection of built-in texture and lighting options, to help you do architecture type renders and walk-around type videos, but nothing youll confuse with pixar.
I might go on and on but for the lousy 70 this can be a hell of an deal. Another thought: This is definitely an awesome add-on for something similar to Blender 3D or another modeler, since you can make a precisely dimensioned object and export it for a modeler texturing and rendering.
Outstanding CAD program! I first bought DesignCAD if it was in floppy format. There are over 400 commands in version 19. Unfortunately, there's very little documentation that provide the package for first time or intermediate users absolutely appreciate how to change the program. I developed a spreadsheet sorting about the commands and showing the menus and submenus where each command resides so that you can better make use of the program by seeking the commands faster. Most commands, in version 19, use a small icon beside them illustrating the function of each command. This can be a great feature for just a CAD program. I wish there was a fresh and up-to-date DesignCAD Inside and Out style of book out showing understanding version 19 in CAD projects, but I doubt it'll happen.
I upgraded from V17 to V19 and immediately started having difficulty with drawing a line employing a mouse. Tech support told me no person used a mouse to get lines and I should utilize command interpreter. WTF? He was really surprised which a feature in V17 ended up omitted.
Next I had a difficulty intalling V19 in this little newlaptop with Win7. Got an oversight message 1354 short file name error. Their webpage directs you to some phone number which directs one to the web site. They only wish to use email. They do not return calls.
I had my systems admin install V19 and yes it went OK using admin. Tech support is nonexistant.

I think the offer was thrown together to capture some valued AutoCad market share inside mid 80s. Now, enough loyal users generate a lot of annual revenue for IMSI to totally abandon whole process almost offering but devote no meaningful support toward it to allow for it to evolve much beyond its original incarnation.
I spent hours struggling through having the features and tools very well to use them to do a design. Upon effectiveness of my design, there was clearly no compatible format I could export this to so that you can allow a manufacturer to reference my design. The best I could do is print drawings with measurements and allow them to draft it on your own on their program. In other words, for the purpose I needed, the offer was a waste of the little money plus a LOT of time.
Of course DesignCAD 3D Max costs dirt as compared to even a cheap 3D design program but, you discover getting that which you pay for it.
I started using Design CAD 3D about 25 years or so ago then Microsoft started changing their platforms, so I was not competent to keep it active. I had thought they went away from business - but happened to return across them on I would endorse the program - I worked being a Plant Manager/Operations Manager with almost no drafting experience - but I found this program very easy to learn and pick-up. Now that I have learned it, I draw almost everything in 3-D. Some from the training videos that include it lack professionalism, however are still understandable. I would endorse the product.
